Lavashak & Other Stories
Lavashak & Other Stories is an artist's book in the form of a travelogue, exhibition catalogue and recipe book. Published in 1996 by Huddersfield Art Gallery on the occasion of Babayan's exhibition that year, it records two significant journeys: Babayan's first visit to Armenia where her family originates, and her return to Iran which she left at the age of 16, just before the Islamic Revolution. This little gem of a book marries day to day diary entries with recipes and corresponding images that draw on all her cultural influences as a diasporan Armenian with mixed heritage.
